Expanding on my learning with the sierra club, I want to investigate new solutions to the rising sea levels in San Francisco, especially the Bayview neighborhood. Nuclear waste and other toxins are rising with the water.

I want to investigate the following concepts: In order to expand this green business movement and provide affordable natural barriers to rising seas, I want to investigate tax credits for shell-recycling restaurants, building on my work restoring oyster reefs. In addition, I want to investigate how to measure the insurers’ avoided losses from seagrass beds, oyster reefs, and other natural remedies for the $92 billion in annual damage caused by coastal flooding. Lastly, these natural resources also store carbon. In order to change economic policy in favor of these blue carbon sequestration options, I want to look into carbon credits for oyster and seagrass farming.
