This summer, I completed an internship with Sanjay Guar and Charles Diamond of Water Economics, LLC.

I was able to look into the water rates of 269 California Water Agencies, collecting data on their monthly rates to formulate into an interactive tool.

Looking into the price structuring strategies did cause me some concern, as I believe that while they are intended for conservation they may have unintended and disproportionate consequences on economically vulnerable people.

I’ve learned a lot about public water utilities and the process of rate-setting this summer. I’m grateful that Sanjay and Charles have given me a chance to learn alongside them, and I will share my findings with you all.
