Hi, I’m a high school student in San Francisco. A few years ago, I learned about oyster shell recycling. After shells are collected from restaurants, they can be put back in the ocean to create reefs–reducing landfills, cleaning the ocean, and preventing coastal flooding. I started volunteering at the Wild Oyster Project to pick up shells every week at local restaurants. That led to creating an app to support shell recycling nationwide.
Along the way, I got really interested in ocean health and water protection issues. This blog is kind of a digital record of all the things I’ve learned, and my conversations with scientists and economists over the past couple of years. I hope you enjoy reading it.
